Starting back in 2016, InstaVolt is widely regarded as one of the most reliable charging networks in the UK, with over 1,700 rapid charging stations across the you are sure to have come across- and maybe even charged- at one!
InstaVolt provides high powered DC charging ranging from 50kW all the way up to 150kW. The chargers themselves are ChargePoint and are developed alongside BYD so customers can expect bespoke features and industry-leading technology.
The InstaVolt network runs on 100% renewable energy sources, including solar and wind farms.
How much does it cost to charge at an InstaVolt location?
Prices for public charging can vary depending on location and charger speed. Sometimes you will also have to factor in additional costs, like connection and idle fees, or location-dependent costs like parking charges. These costs are either set by the operator or the landowner, so if you have a dispute, contact them directly.
The good news? InstaVolt doesn't charge for connecting or any idle fees*
*accurate at the time of writing.
It currently costs £0.85/kWh to charge at an InstaVolt location!
How do you start a charge at an InstaVolt charging location?
We all have our preferred methods of starting a charge. However, there may come a time when you’ve forgotten to bring your Electrocard or your phone runs out of battery meaning the Electroverse app can’t be accessed - what then? Fortunately, you don’t need to worry about either of these things, as InstaVolt has more than one way to get a charge started:
Electrocard (RFID)
Electroverse app
Contactless
Where can I find InstaVolt charging stations?
You will find InstaVolt chargers across the UK so you'll never be far from a rapid charger to get you back out on the open road! Check out our map and see for yourself!
You can also find InstaVolt chargers on our map or in the Electroverse app by clicking on filters, then tapping on operators, and selecting InstaVolt from the list. Once you are back on the map only those chargers will appear!
What charging speeds do InstaVolt offer?
Some charging networks offer a range of speeds and connectors to fit different driver needs. As InstaVolt provides chargers with 50-150kW charging capacity they fall into the rapid charging banding.
All InstaVolt locations as standard have CCS and CHAdeMO connectors for the widest compatibility across electric vehicles but you will find some Type 2 connectors at some charging sites.
