How to use the Electroverse map?

How to use Electroverse map (app)

Picture this: you’ve just joined the Electroverse, you’ve made it to the map with all the charger locations but you don’t know what these buttons mean? Don’t stress - we have the blog for you!

Whilst we try to make our Electroverse map as accessible as possible, sometimes things require further explanation! So, we’re here to explain how to use the Electroverse map - in the app and on the website.

Let’s get plugged in…

How to navigate the map (app)

Once you’re in the Electroverse app map it’s similar to any other navigation app!

Simply use one finger to move the map around to your desired location, or use pinch with two fingers to zoom in and out. From here you can also tap on any charger location to see the information, or tap the side buttons. Check it out:

Buttons (app)

1. Search the map

Let’s start from the top! You can also find the location you’d like to view via the ‘Search location’ toolbar at the top of the map.

To begin, tap the search bar (as demonstrated below) and type in the address/location you want to find - if you have used the search bar before, your latest searches will appear in a list, but if not it’s time to start typing!

When you search a location, you will also spot the ‘Quick route’ feature which appears on the right hand side of the search results. If you tap this, it takes you to the Electroverse route planner feature and automatically enters the result as your destination! See below:

2. Map filters

Just below the search bar, you can see the quick filters! Using these you can ensure the charger locations appearing on the map are exactly what you want e.g. Electroverse partnered chargers only, or fast chargers only. Simply tap them to turn them on and off (a tick will appear when they’re in operation!).

If you’d like to be more precise with your filters, tap the button on the left (shown below) and you will be taken to a page where you can choose from lots of different filter options:

  • My EVs - select your EV (make sure you’ve added your EV via your profile before using Electroverse map filters!).

  • Operators - pick the operators you’d like to charge with.

  • Socket types - choose the type of socket you’d like to charge with*.

  • Charge point speeds - slide the bar to choose from speed 1 - 350+.

  • Access - at certain charge points, you will only be able to pay with a certain method, here you can filter to find chargers which support the Electrocard, in-app charging, Plug & Charge and contactless.

  • Minimum charge points - choose from 3-5 charge points to ensure the amount you will find at the charging location.

3. Route planner

Use the route planner to formulate your journey in advance! Once you have added your EV info to the app, you can navigate to chargers on the way to your destination and the route planner will ensure you arrive with your desired amount of charge.

We have a whole blog on how to use the route planner, with an easy step-by-step guide and screen recordings of the app to guide you through!

Check it out now: How to use the Electroverse route planner!

4. Lists

There are multiple lists within this one button so let’s run through them:

  • Nearby - when your location is on, this list will show you your nearest chargers!

  • Favourites - when you’ve tapped into a charger pin on the map, there will be a small star symbol which you can tap to save for later as a ‘favourite’. It will appear here!

  • Recently used - this one is quite self-explanatory, this section will keep a list of the chargers you have recently charged with!

  • Recently viewed - a list of all the charging locations you have recently tapped on!

All of these lists are interactive so if you tap on one of the chargers listed you will be taken to it on the map!

5. Plunge Pricing*

You may be thinking, why is there a leaf on the right hand side of my Electroverse map? That is for Plunge Pricing! Plunge Pricing is a discount event which occurs when there’s excess renewable energy on the grid, meaning that sometimes we can provide discounts on select networks at certain times of day!

Thus, every so often, when the leaf button turns green, there is a Plunge Pricing discount event going on! By tapping on the leaf, you can discover all the ongoing event details (discount %, networks that are discounted, time etc.) plus any upcoming Plunge Pricing events.

*Currently only available in the UK.

6. Map style

The Electroverse map has multiple aesthetics to choose from! If you fancy a change from the default map look then we have:

  • Satellite - you can see your chargers as though you were in the sky!

  • Traffic - this design has colour-coded roads based on live traffic congestion data!

  • Arcade - a fun, visual alternative, taking your Electroverse map to funky town with its neon nostalgia!

Simply tap on the map design you fancy and your Electroverse world will change! Don’t worry - the default map style is always there if you’d like to change back.

7. Map information

This information button is the Electroverse map key! If you ever wondered why the charging location pins have different colours or different symbols, here is where you find out what everything means!

  • Charge point speeds

Each lightning bolt colour is there to display the highest charging speed accessible at the location!

  • Availability

Four different colours to display whether the charger is available, occupied, out of order or unknown.

  • Access

A lightning bolt means this charger is partnered with Electroverse and you can charge there with an Electroverse payment method (Electrocard, through the app, etc.)! A dot means that we are not currently partnered with this charge point operator and we can only provide charger information, not access to charging.

8. Location

When you first download the Electroverse app, you will be asked for access to your location so that you can use the Electroverse map effectively. If you did not provide us with your location at first, when you tap this button it will ask your permission to receive your location!

Once you have provided access to your location, you can simply tap this button anytime you want to find your location on the map. For example, if you were enthusiastically scrolling the map looking for a charger and lost your location marker, tapping this button would bring you straight back to where you are.

Toolbar - Receipts, Profile (app)

At the bottom of the map, on the toolbar, you will find ‘Receipts’ and ‘Profile’.

You can tap onto receipts to find your charging receipts, with the option to tap into these and download them as a PDF! Plus, on this page you can also view the ‘Total kWh’ you have saved and your ‘Lifetime CO2 saved’.

Head into Profile for your account information, to order an Electrocard and so much more!

Charger locations (app)

Navigate the map to find different Electroverse charger locations (all those pins with lightning bolts!). Once you have found one in the location you want, tap on the pin (as shown below!) to get the charger information!
